Thought I would share what Im doing. I have a 90 mustang, mild 454, 400th 3500 stall w/trans break. aje k member and cross member. Im gonna go with dynatech headers when I finley get time to drop everything in I could use a little help with wireing, the thread on wireing talks more about headers then wireing and not very indepth. So I need help with what wire or wires go to the altanator and starter? An if you still use the ford starter relay on the fender what about the relay on the chevy starter? A little extra detail on this wireing question would be nice, being that my car didn't have a motor an I didn't unhook any of the wires when the motor was taken out. I do know it was a 4cyl.

My car did not have a motor in it also. What I did was hooked up a battery and figure out which wires were for the lites. Then I took the rest of the wiring out including the computer. I moved my battery to the back and ran a 1 gauage welding cable to the starter. I got a power box from the parts store, which is one power wire from the battery to the box and places to put fuses in to run power from (I ran a 10 gauge wire from the battery conection at the starter). Then I ran power from the fuses to my ignition, electric fan, electric water pump and electric fuel pump to toggle switches on the dash. My starter I hooked up to a push button. For my altenator I took a regular Altenator and jumped it to make a 1 wire. I simply hooked that to my power wire in my power box and my battery charges. I also have a master shut off in my possitive wire to the starter. My car is a drag car and this works for me but it is a personal choice as to which way you want to go. I like this because I took a box full of wires out and left it less cluttered under the hood. I bought a nitrous system and will be wiring that through my power box as well. The car is still covered from the winter. I will be uncovering it in the next week or two and will get some pictures up to show what I did.

OKOK if anyone wants to know since know one on here can answer me.... The single wire alt. all you gotta do is hook it to the hot side on the battery or come off the starter. No splicen wires or hacken anything up. I was told by the guy who builds my alt and starters to use at least a 10 gauge wire, hes also the one who told me what wire to hook up to the alt. Im just about done with my car headers will be here on the 12th.
