Simple - if your feul pump works - leave it alone. Run the feul line to the carb and you are all set. Yes, the ford feul pump feeds enough feul for the application.
Our stock pump was junk so we put a holley electric pump inline - and left the origional pump in the tank. Has not caused any problems yet. Don't let people tell you that you have to pull the pump out of the tank. Leave it.
The feul level sending unit is of course stock - so it will work with any gage that utilizes the stock sender. This keeps your costs down.

If your putting in a Carbed engine in a mustang that had/has fuel injection, you will have to use a fuel presure regulater to reduse the presure to your carb.
I had to do this on a 86 ford truck, went to carb from fuel injection
