Hi all. I was just searching things on Google and found this site. Looks good so far.
I have a Chevy powered 1983 Mustang coupe. I built it back in 1997 when Mustangs were all over the place at the local hangout.
I'm running a 1970 400ci small block with a TH350. I had originally built it for the track and some street driving. After not touching the thing for 7 years I'm starting to take interest in it again. I'm in the process of making it streetable. So out comes the spool and 4.10s. Looking to finish the exhaust and add powersteering.

Hey I am looking to do this swap as well. What did you use for motor mounts? I posted about it but it seems nobody checks this site very often.

I noticed that also.
You're going to have to weld in some flat steel on the ford engine pads on the k frame. Then I used solid mounts for an 82-93 F-Body (Firebird/Camaro). I'm looking into putting rubber mounts in now that I want to drive it again. With the tight clearances, I wanted no movement in there when racing.

Do you have any pics of your build? Did you use the s-10 headers as well? What did you do for trans crossmember?

I started to put together a web site, but never finished it.

I didn't use the S10 headers, but thought about it. Back when I put this together there weren't many swap parts out there. I used headers for a small block Monza. I have to clearance a couple of the tubes and had to cut of the k member.
For a trans x member, I used a stock Ford double hump and drilled a hole in the center for the Chevy tranny mount bolt. I had to make a spacer to lift the tailshaft a bit.
Good luck.

Hmm monza headers are alot harder to find used & about 3x the price of most other headers new. At least here in Canada they are. Was there enough room to fit camaro or G-body ie: monte, malibu, etc headers in there?

I'm not sure on that one. There really wasn't enough room for the Monza headers. I was also toying with the idea of 2WD truck "Shorty" headers or factory manifolds. They would dump and a 45* angle just after the head. Then you could have a muffler shop bend up some pipe. What also might work is a set for a Chevy II. They had small blocks and really tight engine bays.

I have a set for a 82+ F-body that dump straight down at the back. I found them in a wrecker for $25 & thought i would try them when I was first thinking of this swap. They are only 2.5" collectors though, not sure how much i would gain over stock manifolds. Not sure i want too buy two sets of s10 headers as i already need a set for my daughters s10 project. did you use a long or short water pump? How was clearance for fan?

Let me know how those headers work out. No fan. The angle of my motor put it too close to the hood (I think). I didn't want to take a chance. I have an electric fan mounted to the radiator. If you go to the junkyard, grab a volvo fan. The motor is flat and gives you good clearance. Right now Im running a taurus fan, but it has to be mounted so that part of the motor is slightly inside the harmonic balancer and the wires are tied out of the way. Very tight up front.

Do you think the volvo fan will pull enough air? What did you use for a rad and hoses?

The Volvo fan should pull enough air. You can use any fan you wish. Just make sure its thin. As far as the radiator, not sure what the application was. I looked in the Modine book and got the dimensions of the stock radiator and then went to the local radiator guy and told him I need a radiator with these dimensions with Chevy located hoses. I don't honestly remember what I used for hoses. I believe I used the ones that were on the motor and just trimmed them to fit.

Ok thats cool. The thought of using the 2.3 style lower hose kinda bothers me.

I meant the 1974 Chevrolet Monte Carlo hoses.
