I sold my 88 camaro a few months back but not before I took the 350 out of it. so i have a 350 laying in my parents garage. I love chevys but would really like to have a mustang . so yesterday I was killing time and came across a 91 lx that just looked like it wasnt being used. so without thinking twice , i bodly knocked on the guys door and asked would he sell it and he said i just caught him cause he was taking it to the junk yard in a couple days. long story short i bought the car for a 150 bucks and the body is perfect !!!! now with using the stock parts how do i get my 350 in this car? i know off hand that i have to change the mounts but what else. this is basically a budget hence the reason i want to use the stock parts along with the motor i already have and the car is set up as manual so what should i do about that as well? should i convert it to automatic or what because i would really love to have a manual , its not anything for racing just a light car with great power is what i want . can any1 help me ?

I think you can get a bellhousing of a T5 from a camaro and make the trans bolt to the motor, that a maybe though , i;am not sure on that. Or you could get a T5 out of a camaro and through in it. Fab you up some motor mounts and throw some manifolds on the motor and you would be runnin.

that is very understandable, the motor that i have is from an 88 and the trans that i had was a borg weirner(5 spd) or however you spell it but you get the picture. would that t5 bolt up to that year motor ? and i would much rather go with headers than manifolds but along with some of the other guys here , im sure i will run into the same problems as far as getting some that will actually fit and that wont break my pocket at the same time.

I dont follow you on what you have, the 88 motor is a chevy motor ? and the 5 speed is out of what ?
You can purchase headers now that will bolt in. But you would also need a K member to make them work . I really not sure if you can get any header to fit with a stock K member. A tubular K member really free's up some needed space for headers.

I used hedman headers for a Suburban/Jimmy. Passenger side slid right in, drivers side I had to ding in the back pipe to clear the steering column. I used the stock k member.

coony278 i have a 5 spd transmission that came out of my 88 camaro, i guess it would have helped if i mentioned that . and my question is would i be able to put that in the mustang and if so what would need to be done ? and to beekerskids , what year was the truck that you pulled it from ?

i know i have so many questions but it never hurt to ask. but what do i do about the exhaust? i read over an article that was saying that i would have problems getting exhaust on the car due to the headers, is any of that true or is there something elso to it ?

I dont see why you cant just slide that trans engine combo right in there then. I would find me a clutch master cylinder out of a newer mustang and retrofit it in the car. I beleive you 88 model trans had a slave cylinder on it.
But yeah your idea is completely doable. The clutch shouldnt be that hard to figure out with a hydraulic or cable operated. With the manual trans you will have more room for exhaust. The trans pan gets in the way with the stock crossmember for exhaust on an automatic.

I believe the 96 up had a hydraulic clutch. And the brake pedal clutch assembly should bolt in the fox since they are built on the same platform.
I really dont mind answering the questions , glad to help. Really glad seeing the forum getting some use.

coony278- well i guess that is another thing i will have to search for . unless i can find some parts at a salvage yard or something then that part will be placed on hold for a while. but i havent checked to see exactly how much it cost , any idea off the top of your head though? and i live in olive branch,ms and finding mustang parts are not as easy . tried pull aparts today , well i called and they said they didnt have a 5 spd there so like i said , just have to search around . but thanks for the info

I would think you could pick up a pedal assembly from a salvage yard for on the cheap side 75.00 maybe less. If you that close to memphis I would think salavage yards would be easy to find. I wouldnt even begin to buy something like that new. The price would be outrages.
